Luara Raio, born in 1990, is a performer, dancer, choreographer, and former funk singer in the queer group Sapabonde. They has worked with professionals of different nationalities in the fields of dance, theater, film and performance, among them Emmanuele Huynh (FR), Leonardo Moura Matheus (BR), Marcelo Evenlin (BR), Luciana Lara (BR), Pablo Gisbert (ES), Tanya Beyeler (BE). From 2012 to 2015, she joined the troupe of the Brazilian company Antistatusquo, directed by choreographer Luciana Lara. With this company, they danced in several cities, including Curitiba, Salvador, Recife, Curitiba, São Paulo and La Paz. In 2015, she was one of the ten artists covered by the FAC-SECULT DF scholarship program to attend the PEPCC 2015/2016 Performing Arts Study Program, of Fórum Dança in Lisbon, where she received teaching and coaching from artists such as Vera Mantero, Loic Touzé, Lia Rodrigues, Marlene Monteiro Freitas, Trisha Brown Company, among others.
Au Portugal, Luara a également travaillé professionnellement avec des artistes tel·le·s que João Fiadeiro, Mariana Tengner de Barros, Miguel Pereira, Ana Borralho, João Galante et le collectif Rabbit Hole. En 2016, iel a créé sa première pièce chorégraphique d'auteur dans un contexte scolaire, le duo Chubby Bunny, dont la première dans le festival (Re)union, et dans le Festival DDD - Dias Da Dança en 2017, Porto-PT, Teatro Aveirense, Teatro Circo de Braga. Également dans le cadre de cette formation, iel a créé le solo FLECHA, qui a eu sa première en décembre 2016 au Teatro Meridional de Lisbonne. Cette œuvre a été présentée au Brésil au Festival Novadança, au Festival ¼ Cena où iel a reçu le prix de l'innovation Furando a Bolha, Salão Residência Fora do Eixo, Festival ACASAS et MID Festival - Mouvement international de danse, festival voix du corps à São Paulo, et Festival (Re)union, Interferencias et Festival TODOS à Lisbonne.
En 2021, iel a terminé un master en danse dans le programme avancé de création dans les arts, EXERCE, de l'Institut Chorégraphique International - CCN Montpellier, dirigé par Christian Rizzo. En 2022, iel a créé la pièce APOCALYPSO au Centro Cultural Belém, interprétée avec la chorégraphe brésilienne Acauã El Bandide Shereya, coproduite par le CCB, Rua das Gaivotas et Espaço do Tempo et financée par DGarts et le gouvernement du Portugal.
En 2022, elle fait partie du casting de Bocas de Ouro de Marcela Santander Corvalán, et Temps de Rien d'Éve Mogot. En 2023, elle danse Nuages d'Acauã El Bandide Shereya, Zona de derrama de Catol Teixeira, et avec son spectacle Apocalypso, elle fait partie du programme du Festival d'Automne à Paris, dans le cadre de l'Echaille Humaine aux Lafayette Sofistications. En 2024, elle a tourné avec Apocalypso dans les festivals Transform à Marseille et Emergentia à Genève. Avec le chorégraphe Catol Teixeira, elle a tourné dans plusieurs villes de Suisse, France et Italie, et a intégré l'équipe de création d'Arrebentação, Zona de Derrama dernière capture, qui a été créée au Pavillon ADC à Genève.
Luara Raio, en 2024, a été sélectionnée pour le programme Jeune Chorégraphe du Sud de la Plateforme Parallèle, qui inclut un accompagnement pour 2025-2026. Actuellement, elle vit à Marseille, où elle collabore avec d'autres artistes et poursuit sa recherche personnelle sur la macumba, l'imaginaire, l'incorporation et la performance.

In 2016, she created her first author choreographic piece, the duet Chubby Bunny, which premiered in Alkantara, and was presented in the festival (Re) union, and in the Festival DDD - Dias Da Dança in 2017, Porto-PT, Teatro Aveirense, Teatro Circo de Braga. Also created the solo FLECHA, which had its premiere in dec 2016 at Teatro Meridional in Lisbon.
